About the Artist

Thea Dalfino has always enjoyed being creative and helping others. Growing up in Clifton Park, she was surrounded by medicine. Summers were spent working as a receptionist in her father's dental office. When school was in session she would often walk home from the bus stop and see a strange car parked in the driveway. It was invariably a patient who was unable to be seen in her mother's pediatric office. Often concerned that very sick children needed to be seen quickly, her mother would examine and treat patients in the living room of their family home. The influence from both of her parents and their dedication to the service of others was inspiring.

As a result, Thea pursued a career in medicine. At Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia she fell in love with Hospital Medicine and began training to become a Hospitalist physician. Hospital Medicine wasn't the only thing she fell in love with; she met fellow classmate, John Dalfino, and they were married early in their third year of medical school. Albany Medical Center provided outstanding training for residency and upon completion, she began working at St. Peter's Health Partners. Her husband, neurosurgeon John Dalfino, continues to practice at Albany Medical Center.

Since joining St. Peter's Health Partners in 2006, she has devoted her career to improving the lives and health of both healthcare workers and patients in the Capital District. During the 2020 COVID pandemic, she was on the frontlines, seeing patients and leading the Hospitalist Department through a difficult time. While scrolling through Facebook one day, she saw a post about acrylic pours and resin art. With the help of YouTube and a lot of trial and error, she began painting.

In October of 2020, she held an art show at St. Peter's Hospital that raised over $1,000 for the St. Peter's Foundation. Since then, she has continued to experiment with new styles ranging from coasters, cutting boards, tumblers and bookmarks.

On a vacation in Venice, Italy in 2022, she purchased multiple Mirano glass necklaces. That's when a lightbulb went off; she could make similar necklaces out of resin! Family and friends received necklaces and rings for the holidays and loved them. She was encouraged to pursue the creation of a business by her friend Noel Hogan, and the rest is history. With the help of many of you, this dream has been realized. Special thanks to Dirk Stanley for helping with all things technical.

In addition to designing resin and acrylic art, Thea enjoys traveling and skiing. When the weather warms up she can be found in her vegetable garden or tending to her beehives. She also has multiple chickens, ducks and a goose.

Thea currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Acute Care Hospitals of St. Peter's Health Partners (St. Peter's, Samaritan, and Memorial Hospitals) and is the mother of 3 sons and a daughter ranging in age from 10-14. Her home studio is in North Greenbush, NY.
